EVANSVILLE, Ind.
- The University of Evansville soccer programs and Director of Athletics Mark Spencer are excited to release details on a new supporters group and crest. UEFC has been created to unite the Evansville community, the campus, and our alumni under one umbrella in order to better support the mission of our soccer programs.

UEFC will have a unique identity and so will the crest used to identify the new supporters group and the UE soccer programs.  The crest emphasizes the values of the University, the history of our programs, and our ties to the local community and the city of Evansville.

Cultural Learning:

The top of the crest borrows its shape from the Harlaxton Manor's coat of arms.  Harlaxton is the crown jewel of the study abroad programs at UE and is the symbol for the University's mission of global learning and cultural understanding.

"All of our students have an opportunity to study abroad, and experience new cultures," said head men's soccer coach #Marshall Ray#. "It is part of what we are as a university. Having experienced it myself as a student, I can speak first hand as to how it helped me grow as a person, and we as a soccer program continue to echo this value to our players and it is something we are proud of."

History of Excellence:

In the middle of the crest you will find a number.  This number is the year each soccer program was started at UE. It represents the rich history of the programs and how important that history is going forward.  Winning, while embracing the academic values of UE, has been the foundation of the program since its inception in '74.  These values were key components for the '85 and '90 men's teams who reached the NCAA Final Four and the women's program's six conference tournament championships. Our players understand our past and understand the legacy left by those who wore the Aces' jersey before them.

Community:

The third element of the crest is its rounded base.  This arc represents the pronounced bend in the Ohio River and the city of Evansville, a community built on the river's north bank. Our program is a product of our environment and we understand our responsibility to represent Evansville and our local community.  We are the highest level of soccer and act as role models to any aspiring soccer player in the community.  It is through the support of our community that we are able to produce a product everyone can take pride in.

UEFC is a membership based supporters group.  We want our fans to be a part of the programs and feel vested in them. Going to the game and cheering on the players is just the beginning. When you join UEFC you receive incentives that make you feel a part of something bigger. We want to provide our members with an enhanced experience on game day.

UEFC will have 5 tiers with each tier offering different incentives.  We want to create a excitement both on and off the field for our programs. The support of UEFC members can help us provide our teams with more resources, which in turn will allow us to compete, improve, and win.  More information on how to join UEFC will be released in the coming weeks.

"Our programs are fortunate to have tremendous support on campus, from the surrounding Evansville metropolitan community, as well as from our alumni base," added Ray.  "We appreciate the past efforts of the Hard Aces, our alumni, and the soccer fans in the area.  Now is the right time to connect all of these groups and focus their energies and efforts to help move our programs in a positive direction for all involved."
