EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville Athletics Department is proud to announce that men's soccer player Nick Schroeder has received a $7,500 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.

Schroeder plans to use the scholarship to pursue a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

"Nick has been a tremendous ambassador for our program and the University of Evansville since he stepped on campus," said Evansville men's soccer head coach Marshall Ray. "It is not a shock the NCAA selected Nick to receive the postgraduate scholarship, he exemplifies the characteristics of a true student-athlete.  I wish him all the best at Washington University and hope I have the opportunity to coach several more student-athletes like Nick."

Schroeder, A Pre-Physical Therapy major from Brighton, Michigan, has a 3.960 GPA. He recorded his first goal as a freshman vs. Indiana. As a sophomore, Schroeder won the inaugural Heritage Federal Credit Union scholarship, was an MVC Scholar Athlete First Team honoree and All-MVC Second Team. Nick has appeared in 58 games, making 25 starts, with eight goals and three assists.

"All the hard work I have put in over the past four years has finally paid off," said Schroeder. "I wish to express my most sincere thanks to our Faculty Athletics Representative Dr. Mark Davis for nominating me for this award as well as to Dr. Gregg Wilson, Dr. Kathy Liu, and Coach Mike Jacobs for their letters supporting my nomination."

The Men's Soccer team hosts USI for the Mayor's Cup on Thursday, April 16. The match will be held at Arad McCutchan Stadium and begin at 7:30 p.m. CDT.
