EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville women's tennis team along with four individual student-athletes were honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for their academic performances in the 2013-14 school year.

For the Purple Aces team, it marked the 19th ITA All-Academic Team Award in a row.  Overall, the Aces posted a grade point average of 3.278.  They were led by four ITA Scholar-Athletes: Gaby Fifer, Andjela Brguljan, Marketa Trousilova and Mina Milovic.

Posting the highest semester GPA was Fifer, who finished with a 3.893.  Fifer majored in mechanical engineering.  Just behind her was Brguljan with a 3.769.  The business management major completed her freshman season at UE after coming to the United States from Croatia.

Two-time Missouri Valley Conference All-Select Team member Trousilova finished the year with a 3.706.  Majoring in communications, Trousilova also earned a nod as an MVC Scholar-Athlete Honorable Mention.  Rounding out the individual honors for Evansville was Milovic.  The economics major from Serbia wrapped up her junior year with a 3.416.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA/CA JUCO eligibility form and have competed in one or more varsity matches must average into the GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2013 and spring 2014).

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).

Evansville's ITA honors come on the heels of the program's second-straight NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) Public Recognition Award.  The team was honored for its work in May.
