EVANSVILLE, Ind. – One of the top players in University of Evansville men's golf history received another accolade as Quinn Vilneff was named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar.  It was his second such honor having earned it in 2013.

"It is a great culmination of an outstanding career at UE for Quinn," Purple Aces head coach Jim Hamilton said.  "He is a great ambassador for UE as a golfer and, more importantly, as a student, he could not be more deserving."

A total of 207 players in Division I, 75 in Division II and 11 in NAIA earned the honor. Additionally, 46 honorees were added to the previously released Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 77.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

Vilneff finished with the third-best stroke average in program history, posting a 75.04 in his three seasons with the Purple Aces.  Following a junior campaign that saw him earn the Missouri Valley Conference Elite 18 Award, he came back better than ever.

With an average of 73.35 as a senior, Vilneff finished fourth in the MVC in that department.  His play helped the Aces take a pair of spring tournament wins in 2014 as they earned top honors at the Benbow Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla. along with the Bradley Invitational.

The native of Amherstburg, Ontario accumulated an impressive 3.89 GPA in his time at UE en route to his second MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team honor this past spring. He is the ninth honoree for the Purple Aces since 2006 and fourth to receive the honor twice.  Others to do so include Chris Bouchard, Michael Sainz and Griffin Wood.
