EVANSVILLE, Ind. –
Entering his second season at the helm of the Purple Aces women’s basketball team, head coach Oties Epps has announced the schedule for the 2012-13 season.

In what will prove to be an exciting season, the Aces will face 11 postseason opponents from last season with 18 out of 29 games being against squads who had the chance to play some extra basketball last year.  Evansville will also take to the road against three Big Ten opponents.

“We are excited about our schedule and worked hard to create a slate that would challenge and prepare us for the grind of the MVC,” Epps said.  “We added several marquis games that would help to boost our RPI.  Our team is pumped up to get the season started.”

Non-conference play will be a grind as the Aces will be on the road for eight out of 11 matchups.  After opening the regular season at Ball State on November 9, UE makes the trek to Champaign, Ill. to face the Fighting Illini two days later.

On November 17, San Jose State makes the trek to the Ford Center for the home opener before Evansville take back to the road for games at Murray State and Wisconsin.  Two-time defending Ohio Valley Conference Champion UT-Martin will mark the Aces’ second home game on November 28.

A trip to Ohio State, who was a No. 8 seed in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, opens the month of December on the 1st.  Things do not get any easier as UE travels to Postseason WNIT participant Eastern Illinois three days later.  A December 9 matchup against Saint Louis will mark the final non-conference home game before the Aces travel to the Toledo Invite on the 20th and 21st.  Evansville will face 2012 WNIT runner-up Toledo in the opener before playing either Prairie View A&M or Hampton.  The Rockets are coached by former UE head coach Tricia Cullop.

Valley play will be challenging as seven out of ten squads advanced to the postseason in March.  League champion Creighton played in the NCAA’s while four teams (Drake, Illinois State, Missouri State and Wichita State) were in the WNIT.  Bradley and Northern Iowa participated in the Women’s Basketball Invitational.

The Aces will have a chance to start league play on a positive note as the first three games and five of the first seven MVC contests will take place at the Ford Center.  Drake comes to town on January 3 before the Aces take on defending champion Creighton.  Southern Illinois comes to town on January 12.

With several home games at the beginning of the season, UE will find itself on the road later on as four of the final six games will be on the road.  Evansville wraps up the home portion of the schedule versus Bradley on Sunday, March 3.

The MVC Tournament is set to take place March 14-17 in St. Charles, Mo.
