EVANSVILLE, Ind. – A pair of University of Evansville men’s soccer freshmen were named among the nation’s best by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
Faik Hajderovic and
Nate Opperman were both selected to the website’s postseason Top 100 Freshman list, as Hajderovic was ranked 58th and Opperman was tabbed 96th.
Hajderovic, a NSCAA/Continental Tiere All-Midwest Region Third Team selection, led the Purple Aces offensively with 15 points on five goals and a team-best five assists. The St. Louis native also attempted a team-high 45 shots and led UE with 20 shots on goal. In addition to his all-region selection, Hajderovic earned All-Missouri Valley Conference Honorable Mention recognition and was named to the All-MVC Freshman Team, MVC All-Tournament Team and ProRehab Aces Soccer Classic All-Tournament Team.
Opperman joined Hajderovic on the All-MVC Freshman Team and appeared in 18 matches this season for Evansville, making 16 starts. Opperman finished his freshman campaign with six points on three goals, with all three being game-winners. The Olathe, Kan., native was named to the ProRehab Aces Soccer Classic All-Tournament Team and attempted 21 shots on the year with 10 being on frame.
Evansville finished 9-8-1 overall in 2012 and tied for third in the final MVC standings with a 3-2-1 mark in league play.
