New Coach Part Of Midwest Staff Of The Year
The 2009 University of Missouri softball coaching staff, which included new University of Evansville head coach Mark Redburn, has been chosen as Midwest Region Coaching Staff of the Year by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Redburn was introduced Monday as the Purple Aces' head coach.

The staff of head coach Ehren Earleywine and assistants Redburn, Melissa Tucci and Pete D'Amour led the Tigers to a 50-12 record and a school record for victories. Mizzou finished second in the Big 12 regular season standings with a 12-6 record but turned their second seed into a conference tournament championship, defeating Oklahoma 5-0 in the championship game. In the NCAA Tournament, the Tigers swept through the Columbia, Mo., regional with wins over Illinois, Bradley and DePaul to advance to UCLA for Super Regionals. Mizzou won the opening contest of the three-game series and dropped the second game before defeating the Bruins via run rule in the final game to advance to the program's fourth College World Series appearance and its first since 1994.
