Jennifer McKee was chosen as a 2009 Missouri Valley Scholar-Athlete honorable mention by the league’s sports information directors for their efforts in athletics and academics this season.
McKee, a junior from Hamilton, Ohio, holds a 3.70 grade-point-average in visual communication and was part of the 2008 UE team that was named a NFCA Girls Got Game Top 10 Academic Team.
McKee led the team with 100 strikeouts and had seven wins in the pitching circle. She threw 14 complete games and struck out a career-high 12 batters in the Aces’ win over Middle Tennessee State. She also pitched a one-hit shutout over Butler and allowed the league-leading Creighton Bluejays to just one run earlier in the season. At the plate, McKee earned her first career double and RBI in the Aces’ final weekend of play against Illinois State.
To be eligible for selection to the team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of at least 3.0, be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing and participate in at least 75% of the regular season.
