EVANSVILLE, Ind.--University of Evansville senior softball player Lissa Fehlman (Elgin, Ill.) has been named as one of 30 national candidates for the prestigious Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award, which is presented annually to the NCAA Division I Student-Athlete of the Year in eight different sports.
Originally launched in 2001, the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award program focuses on the “Four C’s” of classroom, character, community, and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the award honors the attributes of college seniors who remain committed to their university and pursue the many rewards that a senior season and complete college education brings. Lowe’s, an official corporate partner of the NCAA, will award the winners with trophies during the 2009 NCAA Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Fehlman, who is a interdisciplinary studies major, has already been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week and Scholar-Athlete of the Week this season. She currently has a .455 batting average with five doubles, a grand slam, and seven RBI.
