For the third consecutive year, the University of Evansville men's soccer team has earned the NSCAA/adidas College Team Academic Award. The honor goes to programs that have compiled team grade point averages of 3.0 or better in the most recent grading period.
More than half of UE's team compiled GPAs of 3.0 or better, led by Academic All-American Mike Luttrull and Academic All-District selection Robby Lynch. Both players were chosen for the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete Team.
"An honor such as this makes you appreciate the level of commitment that our players, coaching staff and academic support staff put forth on a day-to-day basis," said Coach Mike Jacobs. "We are very proud of our academic achievements, and look forward to continued success in the classroom and on the field."
Evansville finished with a 12-8-1 record, and reached the finals of the State Farm MVC Men's Soccer Championship for the first time since 1996. In Jacobs' fourth year as head coach, UE also produced its fourth consecutive winning season, a feat that had not been accomplished since 1992.
