University of Evansville sophomore women’s basketball player Chelsea Falkenstein (Evansville, Ind./Memorial) has been named this week’s Vectren Student-Athlete of the Week for her efforts in UE’s 81-65 exhibition victory over Oakland City.

Falkenstein kick-started the UE offense in the first half with six-straight points in the span of less than two minutes to help the Purple Aces overcome a slow start and cruise to victory.  Falkenstein finished the contest with 11 points in 17 minutes of action on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor.  She also tied for game-high honors with three steals.

The UE women will open the 2009-10 regular-season on Friday night, as the Purple Aces will host the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers at Roberts Stadium.  Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. and Friday’s game can be heard live on 91.5 F.M.-WUEV and seen live on the internet on AcesTV on GoPurpleAces.com.
