BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Two late goals gave Indiana University a 2-0 men's soccer victory over the University of Evansville here Wednesday night.  It was the first time in the last seven matches that the Aces have allowed more than one goal.

Lee Hagedorn broke the scoreless tie at 67:51 with a blast from 20 yards that found the corner of the goal past Aces' keeper Phil Boerger.  UE's Dan Gibson nearly tied it seven minutes later when his shot hit the crossbar.  Instead, the Hoosiers took advantage of the break and scored their insurance goal at 80:30 when Matt Wiet found the net following a scramble in front of the goal.

Indiana had the edge in shots, 15-9, with four on goal compared to one for the Aces, from junior forward Tom Irvin.

"We were very unfortunate to not get a better result tonight," said Coach Mike Jacobs. "We had really limited their chances for the entire match, and weren't able to finish our own chances. They didn't have much of the play until their goal (in the 68th minute), and then we conceded another late as we were chasing the game. Credit to them – any time you keep a team around in a 0-0 match for as long as we did, you are certainly walking a fine line. It wasn't meant to be, but it certainly wasn't due to a lack of effort – our boys played their hearts out tonight, and deserved a better result."

Evansville is now 10-6-1 with two regular season Missouri Valley Conference matches remaining, Nov. 4 at Missouri State and at home Nov. 7 against Bradley.  Indiana broke a three-match losing streak with Wednesday's win, and is 8-7-1 for the year.
