The student-athletes at the University of Evansville once again shined in the classroom during the spring semester, as the group combined to post a 3.173 grade point average during the 2008 spring semester.

Overall, 12 of UE’s 14 sport programs posted team grade point averages of 3.0 or above during the spring semester, with the women’s tennis and women’s cross country teams each posting a 3.454 team grade point average to lead the way.  Individually, 23 student-athletes posted perfect 4.0 grade point averages during the spring semester (up from 16 during the fall semester), while 97 student-athletes owned grade point averages of 3.5 or above (up from 93 during the fall).  Overall, over 40.2 percent of UE’s 241 student-athletes posted grade point averages of 3.5 or above this past spring.

“One of the measures of success for college athletics is how well the student-athletes perform academically at a school,” said UE Director of Athletics John Stanley.  “Thanks to an outstanding faculty and the efforts of our student-athletes, who find it important to succeed academically, we are very proud to announce outstanding results academically as evidenced by the data released today.”

Below is a list of the UE athletic programs which posted a team GPA of 3.0 or above during the spring semester, with the full list of individual student-athletes who earned academic honor roll status at UE also listed below.  Evansville will honor the student-athletes who earned academic honor roll status during the 2007-08 academic school year at a student-athlete breakfast on October 7.
