University of Evansville senior-to-be pitcher John Foley (Mt. Pulaski, Ill./Mt. Pulaski) and rising sophomore catcher T.J. Dailey (Kansas City, Mo./Rockhurst) became the third and fourth Purple Aces to earn summer league all-star status today, as both players were named to the Central Illinois Collegiate League All-Star Team.
Foley was one of 10 pitchers selected to the CICL All-Star Team after a strong first half for the Danville (Illinois) Dans. Foley currently ranks 10th in the CICL in earned run average at 3.34, while also ranking sixth in the league in innings pitched (35.0) and eighth in the CICL in victories (two). Foley was Evansville’s staff ace this past spring, leading the squad with five wins, while posting a 4.66 ERA in a team-best 87.0 innings of work on the mound.
Dailey, meanwhile, was tabbed as one of the CICL’s top catchers during the first half of the season for the Dubois County Bombers. Dailey currently ranks second in the CICL in both runners caught stealing (10) and percentage of runners thrown out stealing (34.5 percent) behind home plate. Dailey has hit .219 offensively with two doubles and seven RBI in 20 games so far in the wooden-bat CICL.
The Central Illinois Collegiate League is a wooden-bat summer league for college baseball players, which is based in Illinois and Indiana. The CICL All-Star Team will battle the Kentucky-Illinois-Tennessee (KIT) League All-Star Team in an all-star contest on Monday, July 21 at 7:00 p.m. at League Stadium in Huntingburg, Indiana.
