University of Evansville tennis players, Sara Wilhoite and Stephanie Millis, were honored for their academics as they were voted Missouri Valley Scholar-Athletes by the league’s coaches and tennis sports information directors this week.
Wilhoite (Connersville, Ind./Connersville) was voted to the first team of the MVC Scholar-Athlete team for the first time in her career at Evansville. The Aces’ lone senior has a current singles record of 10-5 with the majority of those coming at No. 3. She won seven of her first eight singles matches, including five straight this spring. Wilhoite carries a 3.91 grade-point-average and will graduate in May with a degree in literature.
Millis, a junior from Greenwood, Ind., received honorable mention for her academic and athletics efforts this spring. The junior holds a 3.96 grade-point-average in health services administration and has four singles and six double victories this spring.
To be eligible for selection to the team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of at least 3.0, be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing and participate as a starter or important reserve role for her team. A minimum of two votes was required to earn honorable mention and the league's tennis sports information directors voted on this award.
