Student-athletes at the University of Evansville have long been known for their ability in the classroom, and that long tradition of academic success continued this past fall at UE, as Evansville’s student-athletes combined to post a 3.175 grade point average during the fall semester.

Ten of UE’s 14 sport programs had team grade point averages of 3.0 or above during the fall semester, with the women’s tennis program leading the way with a 3.613 team GPA.  Individually, 16 student-athletes posted perfect 4.0 grade point averages during the fall semester (compared to nine 4.0 GPAs in fall, 2006), and 93 student-athletes owned grade point averages of 3.5 or above this past fall (compared to 71 in fall, 2006).  Overall, over 37.6 percent of UE’s 247 student-athletes posted grade point averages of 3.5 or above this past fall.

“We ask a lot of our student-athletes during the course of an academic year,” said UE Director of Athletics John Stanley.  “Among other things, they are asked to put in extra time to succeed athletically, to participate in community activities, and to achieve academically.  With all of the demands put on them, our Athletic Administration and the rest of the University’s leadership are extremely proud that the student-athletes continue to produce outstanding academic results, as evidenced by the latest semester’s aggregate grade point average.”

“It is very gratifying to see the growth in the number of student-athletes achieving academic honor roll status here at UE,” said UE President Dr. Stephen Jennings.  “It speaks highly of the commitment by our student-athletes and athletic administration to the value of academic excellence at the University of Evansville.”

Here is a list of the UE athletic programs which posted a team GPA of 3.0 and above, with the full list of individual student-athletes who earned academic honor roll status at UE also listed below.
