The University of Evansville has the highest graduation rate of student-athletes in the Missouri Valley Conference, according to the annual Graduation Success Rate Report released today by the NCAA.
UE's overall graduation rate for student-athletes is 93 percent, based on those who entered school from 1998-99 through 2001-02. In addition, the University of Evansville is one of only 27 schools nationally with a 100 percent graduation rate in men's basketball, and one of 79 with a 100 percent graduation rate in women's basketball. Other sports at UE with perfect graduation rates were men's and women's cross country, men's golf, softball, men's swimming & diving, women's tennis and volleyball. The Graduation Success Rate (GSR) was developed by the NCAA as part of its academic reform initiative to more accurately reflect the academic success of student-athletes.
"The University of Evansville provides a great combination of being a small school with Division I athletics, which serves to attract good athletes who are also good students," said UE Director of Athletics John Stanley. "We have always been gratified that our athletes are as proud of their academic achievements as they are of their athletic success. The GSR results reflect our ongoing commitment to graduate very talented student-athletes."
