University of Evansville senior Andrea Sonnenschein (Poy Sippi, Wis./Berlin) has accomplished many “firsts” at UE, but her latest accomplishment is one of the most impressive, as she has been named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team. Sonnenschein is the first UE female cross country runner to earn MVC Scholar-Athlete Team honors.
Sonnenschein captured MVC Scholar-Athlete status by placing 16th overall at the 2007 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championships, while posting a cumulative grade point average of 3.03 in Mass Communications at Evansville. Valley student-athletes who place in the Top 20 individually at the conference meet and own a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher as a sophomore or higher eligibility-wise at their respective MVC school earn MVC Scholar-Athlete Team honors.
Sonnenschein is the first female Purple Aces to earn MVC Scholar-Athlete Team honors in UE’s 13 years in the Valley. Overall, she is the third Purple Aces to take home Scholar-Athlete Team honors, joining three-time Valley honoree Nick Waninger and current UE sophomore male standout Greg Pulscher.
