Junior Jason Holsinger is an outstanding student and co-captain of the University of Evansville men's basketball team.  He earned honors today for both his academic and athletic skills, chosen as the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week.

Holsinger was chosen on the basis of his total of 25 points and 11 assists last week in two games, a 75-67 loss at Valparaiso and a 57-44 win over Hanover.  Holsinger was the team leader in both categories for the two games.  He was eligible for the award because he has a 3.84 grade point average while maintaining a double major of economics and social studies education.  Nominees must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Ashleen Bracey of Illinois State University, also a basketball player, earned the female award.  This is the ninth year in which Prairie Farms has sponsored the weekly MVC scholar-athlete awards.
