Three Aces Make Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete Team

No other school put more players on the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete Team than did the University of Evansville.  Three members of coach Chris Pfau's squad--senior Heidi Grey and juniors Kayla Lambert and Julie Winkler--were chosen for the squad today by the league's sports information directors.

All three were chosen last week for the Valley's all-conference team.  Grey joined the all-academic team one week after becoming only the third player in University of Evansville women's soccer history to earn all-conference honors four years in a row.  The first team all-MVC midfielder from Port Orchard, Wash. scored four goals and made four assists for 12 points this year, and ended her career with 19 goals and 15 assists for 53 points. She will graduate in May with a degree in business management.

Lambert, a management major, and Winkler, who majors in movement science and pre-physical therapy, were chosen for the all-academic team for the second consecutive year.  Lambert led the Aces in scoring with 10 goals and four assists for 24 points, and is now the fourth leading scorer in Missouri Valley Conference history with 96 points on 37 goals and 22 assists.  She is the second leading scorer in Aces' history, trailing only Krissy Meek, who totaled 106 points in her career between 1996 and 1999. The junior forward from Las Vegas, Nev. has been an all-conference selection three years in a row. Winkler is a midfielder from Florissant, Mo. who scored one goal and made three assists for five points this season.  She made the MVC all-conference second team as a sophomore in 2006, and moved up to the first team all-conference squad this year.

The Aces finished with a 10-5-3 record, finished second in the Missouri Valley Conference regular season standings, and reached the State Farm MVC Tournament semifinals for the third consecutive year.
