At UE – Peter Tountas will once again battle for a starting position on the left side of the UE infield this spring...Healthy after battling shoulder problems last season...Possesses soft hands and a strong arm defensively.

2008 – Played in 40 games, with 38 starts at both shortstop (31 GS) and third base (7 GS)...Tied for the team lead with five home runs...Hit .254 with six doubles and 21 RBI...Hit four of his five home runs in MVC play, while hitting .286 in 16 Valley games...Led UE and ranked ninth in the Valley in home runs in conference play...Finished the year strong, hitting .308 with all five of his home runs and 16 of his 21 RBI over the final 21 games of the year...Went a season-best 3-for-6 with three runs scored at Tennessee-Martin (4/8)...Hit a pair of home runs in UE’s 6-5 win over Indiana State (4/20)...Also hit home runs against Chicago State (5/4) and #10 Wichita State (5/11) at home and at Southern Illinois (5/16)...Went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI vs. Chicago State (5/4)...Had nine multi-hit games...Four multi-RBI games, including driving in a season-best three runs vs. Chicago State (5/4).

At Jefferson College – Played for Sam Carel at Jefferson College...A two-year starter at shortstop, despite battling injuries... Limited to 30 games as a sophomore, before being shut down due to a shoulder injury...Hit .258 with four home runs and 18 RBI...Was drafted in the 41st round of the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft by the Boston Red Sox after hitting .282 with five home runs and 25 RBI as a rookie at Jefferson College.

Background – Drafted in the 46th round of the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft by the New York Mets after a standout career at Maine South High School in Illinois...Helped the Hawks to the regional championship game as a senior...His father, Peter, played professional hockey...Majoring in marketing...Chose Evansville for “the great baseball program and coaching staff that can help me take the next step in my development.”
