ST. LOUIS -- Sarah Solinsky, associate director of athletics and senior woman administrator at the University of Evansville, will serve as the Missouri Valley Conference vice president/senior woman administrator during the 2009-10 school year.
MVC Commissioner Doug Elgin announced a total of seven appointments today. Dr. Samuel Goldman, chancellor of Southern Illinois University, and Dr. Harold Bardo, faculty athletics representative from Southern Illinois University, will serve as the 2009-10 chair of the Presidents Council and president of the Missouri Valley Conference, respectively. Dr. Bruce Johnson, faculty athletics representative at Missouri State University, is the president-elect for The Valley, while Dr. Anne Woodrick, faculty athletics representative at the University of Northern Iowa, is the past president of the Conference. Bruce Rasmussen, director of athletics at Creighton University, will serve as the league's vice president/director of athletics. He also will serve as the chair for the Athletics Administrators Committee. Commissioner Elgin will serve as secretary/treasurer.
The officers will oversee the administration of the 10-school Missouri Valley Conference during the upcoming school year, and recommend policy and procedures for all sports sponsored by the MVC.
Solinsky has been associate athletics director at UE since 2002, and in 2003 added the title of Senior Woman Administrator. Solinsky previously served as Assistant Athletics Director for Business and Event Management at UE. She oversees all aspects of NCAA rules compliance and student-athlete services. She also provides administrative oversight for seven of UE's 14 sports: men's and women's golf, men's and women's soccer, softball, volleyball and tennis.
Solinsky has been a member of the Missouri Valley Conference Officiating Committee and the Missouri Valley Conference Finance Committee. Solinsky has served as tournament director for a number of events hosted by UE, including the 2007 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Women's Soccer Championship, the 2005 State Farm Missouri Valley Cross Country Championship, and the 2003 Missouri Valley Conference Softball Championship.
Solinsky was a National Softball Coaches Association All-America shortstop and Academic All-American in 1994 at Sacred Heart University, and in 1996 received the Eastern College Athletic Conference/Robbins Scholar Athlete Award. She also lettered three years in basketball at Sacred Heart. Solinsky served as athletics business manager at Sacred Heart from May, 1995 until coming to Evansville in 1997.
Solinsky is a native of Marion, Indiana and earned her undergraduate and MBA degrees from Sacred Heart. She is also a 2007 graduate of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators (NACWAA)/HERS Administrative Institute.
