University of Evansville seniors
Kasey Kutzler and
Kellee Widener have been chosen for the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete Team. Widener was chosen for the first team, and Kutzler was an honorable mention selection.
Widener is a fifth-year senior who graduated in May with a degree in marketing and a 3.84 grade point average. She overcame serious knee injuries early in her career to become a starting midfielder in her final two seasons. She was one of only seven UE student-athletes in 2008-09 to earn the MVC Presidents Council Academic Award, given to those who maintain a GPA of 3.8 or higher going into their senior year.
Kutzler has a 3.52 GPA and will graduate next May with a degree in sociology. She was a first team all-MVC defender this year and a team captain. Kutzler started in all 74 matches in which she played during her career, and was a two-time MVC Defensive Player of the Week. She finished third for UE in scoring this season with three goals for six points.
