KETTERING, Ohio -- Two straight sub-80 rounds produced a fourth place finish in a field of 53 players today for University of Evansville junior Emily Johnson at the Dayton Invitational.

Johnson followed Monday's 78 with a 79 Tuesday afternoon at NCR Country Club North to finish the 36-hole tournament at 157. She was just three strokes behind medalist Kate Moore of Cincinnati. UE sophomore Lauren Ellerman also broke into the top 10, finishing ninth at 160, and junior Maggie Wood was right behind in 13th place at 161. Those three led Evansville to its best team finish of the fall, a tie for fourth out of 10 teams with a team score of 652. Cincinnati was team champion at 624.

Tuesday's round was the final one of the fall season for coach Jim Hamilton's squad. The Aces resume play in February, and the spring season will culminate with Evansville hosting the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf Championship at Rolling Hills Country Club in Newburgh, April 18-20.
